Single goal defeat at the home of Paks

Videoton suffered a 1-0 defeat on Saturday in the OTP league game at Paks.

Paksi FC stole a point away at Ferencvaros last week and could have collected all three but for an injury time leveller from FTC at the Groupama Arena. Vidi defeat Debrecen to go two points clear of the Budapest side. Manager Marko Nikolic had to do without suspended Danko Lazovic for the game but Marko Scepovic returned having suffered an injury in the last game that forced him to come off.

It was Vidi that directed things in the opening 15 minutes. A Huszti free kick was headed over by Stopira, while the left back also sent a low shot wide of the target. Vidi lost possession at the back on 16 minutes, which Hahn pounced on before shooting at goal with a low shot from 17 meters, which Kovacsik collected comfortably. Haraszti did well to trick the Vidi defenders after 33 minutes, but his point blank curling shot went towards the bottom left corner, but Kovacsik pulled off a very good save to deny him.

Hahn broke into the box 5 minutes later before passing the ball into the middle, but Hadzic managed to intercept in the last second, but also suffered an injury to his ankle at the same time. The midfielder required treatment and was forced to come off. He was taken to hospital after the match for a thorough inspection. The second half started with a big chance for Vidi with Stefan showing good movement, before shooting at goal from 14 meters, but the ball went just wide of the home goal. The match continued with there not being a chance on either goal for a period of time. There were plenty of fouls around the pitch for the watching supporters with the home side causing more of the challenges on the opponents. A quick move on 68 minutes ended with Bertus in a clear chance on goal, but Kovacsik managed to block the shot, but the rebound fell to Szabo, who squared it to his right for Haraszti to control and find the bottom corner (1-0).

It was the home side who had further chances following that opening goal. Haraszti sent a free kick into the hands of Kovacsik, while Bartha just shot over from 16 meters. Racz in the home goal was playing his second ever NB I game and he dealt with the crosses the came his way. The referee blew for full time and Vidi came away from the home of Paks without a point.

The season continues next week with the big home game against Ferencvaros at the Pancho Arena.
