Vidi's international forward returned from illness to play the final 17 minutes, and also scored a goal, which was quite special!
Paks' pitch became unplayable due to the heavy rain over recent days, which is why the two clubs came to the decision to switch the match to the Sostoi stadium. The visitors have never been able to win a league match in Szekesfehervar in their history. They picked up a single point back in 2007, but all the other games resulted in the three points remaining at home. Paks have beaten some big teams during the current autumn 2014-15 season, including wins over Győr, Debrecen and Diosgyőr. They went in to the 11th game of the season having lost just once, which was the home game against Kecskemet.
Vidi midfielder Adam Simon made his 100th league appearance in the first division, while his twin brother, Andras, lined up for the opponents. Alves sent a curling ball in after 9 minutes, from a free kick from distance, with Vinicius arriving well to head just over the bar from 7 meters out. Alvarez had another free kick two minutes later. This time his shot whistled just wide. A good move after 21 minutes ended with a low ball in to the middle from Stopira, but his cross was over hit, which resulted in Paks player Balo clearing ahead of Oliveira, but the ball did not end up too far, with Adam Simon hitting the rebound from 25 meters wide of the goal.
Juhasz sent a header towards goal from a Kleinheisler cross on 35 minutes, which required Molnar to deal with it and stop it finding the back of the net. Vidi went closest to breaking the deadlock with three minutes of the first half remaining. Kovacs produced good skill to break in to the box, and his shot produced a very good save from keeper Molnar in the Paks goal.
The home side continued from where they left off in the first half, with the red and blues dominating things and directing the game. The lead came on 57 minutes, following a Kleinheisler corner ending up at the feet of Alvarez, who passed the ball back to the arriving Oliveira to hit a powerful left footed shot from 22 meters out, which flew in the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Oliveira almost returned the favour to Alvarez two minutes later. His low cross in to the middle saw Alvarez slide in but just fail to make contact from close range. Nikolics came on as a 73rd minute substitute, with the forward having to miss the recent league match against Debrecen due to illness. Nikolics hit a sweet low shot on 87 minutes, which brought a very good save from Molnar, who stopped it from finding the bottom right hand corner. Paks won their first corner of the match after 94 minutes, with keeper Molnar going forward to help his side find the equaliser. However, Vidi won possession and the ball fell to Niko on the right, who ran close to 50 meters, before finding the back of the empty net from 30 meters out, to make the final score 2-0.
Nikolics returned to action with another goal, which means that the forward has now scored in his 12th consecutive league match. Vidi are next in action on Tuesday in the Hungarian cup, which kicks off at 18:00pm. The tie will be decided over one match.
