Videoton put in a very impressive pre-season performance against their Chinese opponents.
Videoton FC played their second friendly match of the second training camp in Spain on Wednesday evening. José Gomes' side were looking to build on Sunday's good 0-0 draw with Dinamo Moscow. His side did not disappoint with a five star performance against Chinese side FC Evergrande. The weather was very mixed with sunny intervals followed by rain. That made the pitch a little bit slippery as Vidi ran out in their light blue shirts and white shorts against the Asian Champions league champions.
Vidi started the match aggressively forcing their opponents back into their own half. Evergrande then found their feet and saw two goals ruled out for offside after quick succession. The first half continued with both sides trying to gain the upper hand in a balanced game.
Vidi took the lead after 21 minutes following a free kick and some good combination play. Gyurcso hit the ball towards the far post, with Juhasz heading the ball towards goal for the arriving Vinicius to steer the ball in to the back of the net to make it 1-0.
There were small chances at both ends although nothing really serious to test either keeper. The Chinese could have drawn level towards the end of the first period, but it needed the calm head of Juhasz following a shot to keep the score at the break at 1-0. The second half could not have started better for the Szekesfehervar side. Gyurcso's cross was finished off by Nikolics to make it 2-0.
That second goal seemed to shake up the opponents, who were not counting on being 0-2 down. A total of 5 changes was made at the hour mark by José Gomes, which added to the changes made at half time and just before the break made it a totally new side. Oliveira sent a shot just wide of the post while Papp went one better on 73 minutes. He scored from a really good long range shot, which gave the keeper no chance and made it 3-0.
Evergrande continued to press forward trying to get back into the game, but found a strong Videoton defence in their way. They did put the ball in the back of the net but that was the third goal to be flagged offside. 3-0 became 4-0 thanks to Alvarez, who was played through on the right and shot towards the near post to add to the scoreline.
Things got even better as Zé Luis added his to the good performance with a goal from his left foot to make it 5-0! Muriqui managed to score a consolation goal for the Chinese side, when he ran towards goal and side footed the ball beyond the Vidi keeper. The match official blew for full time with the final score 5-1. It was a good performance with good football being played by Gomes' side. Next up are CSKA Moscow on Monday afternoon.
