Vidi cruised to a comfortable 3-1 home victory on Sunday afternoon

Videoton went into their biggest league match of the autumn season so far, on the back of an excellent and memorable 2-1 Europa league win over Basel. Paulo Sousa made changes to his side, which was understandable, taking full use of the squad at his disposal. Kaka came back into the heart of the home defence in place of Vinicius. Szolnoki remained at left back, as he continued to deputise well for the injured Stopira. The talented Kovacs began the game, as did Torghelle who played up front in this Sunday afternoon fixture at the Sostoi stadium. The weather was much cooler than on Thursday, but the home crowd still created a good atmosphere, which would go on to help Vidi collect three important points.
Debrecen kicked off with Sidibe surprisingly playing in defence. It was another visiting defender who had the games first real effort. Korhut's half volleyed at goal, following a low cross from the right ended with Bozsovics on hand to deal with the early danger after 2 minutes. A corner from Bouadla and then a free kick both tested the giant Montenegro keeper. Vidi showed signs of what was to come later, when Torghelle received a pass from Mitrovics in the 8th minute, and shot just wide of the right hand post. That shot went ever so close to putting the Fehervar side ahead. Oliveira showed good skill three minutes later, with a good run, which began inside his own half and ended on the edge of the Debrecen box, that required a last minute interception from Szakaly. The all important breakthrough arrived after 22 minutes thanks to some great work from Kovacs. He evaded the challenges of the Debrecen defenders while running towards the box before a clever reverse pass found Torghelle, whose low shot found its way into the net.
Vidi had another good chance 5 minutes later, with Olveira once again showing his skills before finding Torghelle just infront of the goal, and the powerful forward set up Mitrovics, whose shot was saved by Verpecz in the Debrecen goal. Coulibaly sent a header towards goal, following a 30th minute Bodi free kick. It needed a great save from Bozsovics who parried it to Coulibaly, with the rebound going into the back of the net. However, the linesman flagged for offside, and Viktor Kassai disallowed the effort. A low cross from the right from oliveira tested the visiting keeper, before Neto shot just wide of the post from close range. An interesting and eventful first period finally came to an end with the home side a goal up.
Debrecen made a change at half time, with Rezes coming on for Yannick. They also had another disallowed goal after 54 minutes. Bouda hit a high ball from right to left, which saw Varga head to the middle, before Simac was judged to have handled the ball into the goal. Kassai ruled it out and gave the home side a free kick instead. Rezes did have a good shot go wide of goal in the 61st minute, with Vidi forcing more pressure to increase their lead in the match. That produced results when Oliveira kept his cool to slip the ball just wide of Verpecz' leg and into the corner of the net to make it 2-0 to the home side.
Debrecen came back into the game 5 minutes later. A cross from the right was not cleared, with the arriving Coulibaly easily finding the target to make it 2-1. Kovacs continued to impress with his skills and vision, which were to draw praise from Paulo Sousa after the match. He showed what he could do in the 68th minute, with a nice touch and right foot shot, which rolled just wide of the left post. The 75th minute produced a lovely move, which ended with Videoton restoring their two goal lead. Kovacs received the ball outside the box, and his powerful run beat the visiting defenders, before crossing low to the centre for Nikolics to make the game safe, which was exatly what Vidi deserved based on their performance.
There were several small chances towards the end of the match, before Kassai blew for full time in the 2nd minute of injury time. Videoton produced another good performance of a lovely week, and the three points lifted them to fourth in the table.
