Marko Nikolic: We deserved to win

The two managers shared their thoughts on Saturday's OTP league game in Debrecen.

Marko Nikolic:

„The supporters saw a good match today against a battling DVTK side that we managed to beat. We started well but the home side quickly took the lead, just like last week where the opponents scored from practically their first shot. We then took over the tempo from Diosgyőr and you could see their battling style out there on the pitch. We did not really use our heads and ended up trying to hit long balls. We spoke to the players at half time and corrected three-four tactical elements. I also asked them to keep the ball on the floor and show me what we had practiced during the week. We started to play in the second half and turned the game around. However, our opponents then levelled through another big goal. That goal came from virtually nothing and I could hardly believe it. We ended up winning the game with our third goal and we picked up the three points. I feel that we deserved to win and I want to congratulate my players! We lead the table after the first third of the season, but there is still plenty of work ahead of us. I would like to thank the Vidi supporters that backed us throughout in Debrecen"

Tamás Bódog:

„I felt that the first half was fine. Perhaps our visitors hardly had a moment but this now means nothing. Those errors that we made in the second half where taken advantage of by Vidi's good players. You cannot defend from 5 meters. If you allow your man to get in behind you and he turns you, then you have to ask the question about what we practised during the week. We did not reach those balls that were played up to the box and our opponents connected with the ball. We had pace in our team and it was hard to defend against. We need to improve on these things. It is really frustrating that we came back to level at 2-2, but still did not manage to pick up a result. I spoke with Ugrai to close down the left side better. We wanted to make a change but now I can see that we should have done this earlier. We will carry on working!"
