NEW SIGNING

Zoltán Derekas joins Videoton!

The 27-year-old midfielder, who has experience playing in the NB I, most recently played for Kecskemét.

Vidi has bolstered its squad for the upcoming season with a player who can fill multiple midfield positions: Zoltán Derekas has moved to Székesfehérvár from Kecskeméti TE.

Zoltán Derekas was born on the 19th September 1998, in Budapest. After playing for REAC, he developed his skills in the Ferencváros youth system, where he made his senior league debut with the second team in NB III; he also played on loan for Soroksár in NB II. In the summer of 2021, he signed with Mezőkövesd, from where he also played on loan at Csákvár; which was followed by a stint at Haladás, and in January 2024, his path led him to Kecskemét. He spent the 2024–2025 season on loan at Tatabánya, then returned to Bács-Kiskun and once again bolstered the purple-and-whites last season.

Derekas, who can play as both a defensive and central midfielder, has appeared in 12 NB I matches, 172 NB II matches, and 24 Hungarian Cup matches so far in his career. His record stands at 17 goals and 20 assists in the second division, and 6 goals and 3 assists in the cup.

"I didn’t have to think long about where to continue my career among the options available to me. Videoton’s history and vision for the future were convincing to me, as was the character of sporting director Nemanja Nikolics. The club’s vision aligns with the future I envision for my career. I want to get the most out of myself, thereby helping the club and my teammates achieve the goals set by the management. What kind of player do I consider myself to be? I’m a man of action, so I’d like the fans to judge for themselves what kind of player I am on the field," Zoltán Derekas told our website after signing his contract.

"Zoltán Derekas is a hard-working player who knows the NB II league well and has also played in NB I. He can play in multiple positions, and I’m glad he chose us. He’s a professional-minded football player, and I’m confident he’ll settle in quickly and be a significant reinforcement for us," said sports director Nemanja Nikolics in a statement to our website.
