Club captain Balazs Toth received a small gift from the club after he made his 150th league appearance for Vidi in the recent away match with DVTK. The experienced midfielder has been a stable performer for the Fehervar side, and also scored Vidi's opening goal in last week's 1-1 away draw at Győri ETO. Managing Director Mark Tassy made the presentation just before kick off. Toth has had a good career in both Hungary and Belgium. He once again lined up in the middle of a side, which had plenty of changes from the most recent games. Szolnoki came in at right back, with Szekeres occupying the central defensive position. The beautiful sunny weather made the conditions near perfect, with the players needing to take on plenty of water throughout the game.

Hector also began the match at left back, with places in the side for Paraiba and Torghelle up front. The match started at a fast pace, with several chances being created, as had been the case in Wednesday's match with Győr and last Sunday's. The first effort came from Alvarez who almost put Vidi ahead after 2 minutes. Torghelle also went close to putting Vidi in the lead, but his chance also failed to find the back of the net. Balazs Toth and Mitrovics also tested the visiting keeper during the opening exchanges. However, Csernyánszki in the Paks goal could do nothing with Adam Gyurcso's stunning free kick after 25 minutes, which flew into the top corner. The young wide man showed great technique to find the target from over 20 meters out.

Vidi were looking to get a win that would see them leapfrog MTK into second in the table, who had lost on Friday evening in Siofok. Paks started to come forward more after falling behind. Bozsovics was not really tested, despite shots from Balo and Heffler. The best chance of the half fell at the feet of Torghelle, after Alvarez saw his powerful shot crash back off the crossbar. The ball landed at the feet of Torghelle, whose reflex shot went wide of the open goal.

The second half began with a Mitrovics free kick and a shot from Torghelle, which hit the side netting. Paks also had two Heffler shots, but the score remained at 1-0. An Adam Gyurcso cross and some good movement from Paraiba were the closest Vidi came to extending their lead. The game was then made safe on 69 minutes. A curling free kick from the left by Gyurcso, was flicked on by Caneira into the far corner of the net. It was the experienced Portuguese defenders first NB1 goal. Paks came back strongly into the match in search of a consolation. Hector was stretchered off with an injury, which was the only real negative of the afternoon.

Vidi played confidently throughout to pick up the three points. José Gomes' side now has two games with Ferencvaros to look forward to. The first of those will be the league cup final at the Sostoi stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
