Three goal defeat against leading Romanian side

Videoton played their third friendly of the winter pre-season on Friday evening.

Vidi played their third friendly game of the Spanish training camp on Friday on a training pitch next to their hotel. The opponents were Romanian first division side CFR Cluj. Marko Nikolic picked the following side for the game: Kovácsik – Nego, Juhász, Tóth Bence, Stopira – Pátkai, Varga József, Nikolov – Anel Hadzic – Lazovics, Scsepovics.

The first action of the game saw keeper Adam Kovacsik save in the 6th minute from Senegal international forward Ibrahima Balde. The Vidi keeper was again called upon when Deac sent a low shot at goal, which was cleared by his leg. With 24 minutes on the clock, the ball hit Patkai on his hand and the Spanish official pointed at the penalty spot. Deac stood behind the ball and beat Kovacsik, who guessed the right way, but it ended up in the back of the net. Ionita hit the post after 30 minutes, while Paun received a good ball a minute later, which he calmly rolled into the back of the net.

That gave Cluj a two goal lead after half an hour. A dangerous Lazovic corner on half time was collected by keeper Vatca. The Romanian keeper pulled off a much better save a minute later following a cross by Scepovic, which was headed at goal by Stopira. There was no time to take the corner as the referee blew for half time.

Bence Toth, Mate Patkai and Jozsef Varga did not come out for the second half, having been replaced by Attila Mocsi, Patrik Reti and Istvan Kovacs. The half began with an unfortunate injury, which resulted in one of the assistants not being able to continue. His place was taken by the fourth official. Scepovic ran towards goal after 54 minutes, but his shot went over the bar. Lazovic then played in Kovacs, with the midfielder targeting the far post from 18 meters, but the keeper managed to deny him and save.

The action continued with a another curling corner from Lazovic causing problems in the opponents box. This time a shot from Stopira was cleared off the line by Balde. Vidi went forward after 69 minutes with a nice move that ended with a cross from Kovacs finding Lazovic, who shot over the goal. There was 13 minutes left of the game when Camora crossed into the middle and Coman connected to find the right corner. Cluj' substitute keeper Rus saved a Lazovic free kick close to full time, but the 3-0 scoreline remained as the referee blew for full time.

There will be one more friendly on Monday before the team fly back to Hungary on Tuesday.
