Oliveira: It was a good year for both me and the team

"The first half of the season saw us involved in a fantastic run in the Europa league, but I felt that the second half of the season also went really well. We played many good games and also scored lots of goals. We were quite a way behind Győr in the league table at the half way stage of the season. We needed to work really hard to cut the gap with them. This club has to always battle for first place, and we did this over the spring season. However, we did not manage to win the league in the end. We have another chance in the Europa league, after finishing in second place. The team are really looking forward to this, as we experienced last season just how special it is to play in games like these. We started working with José Gomes in January, and I feel that we have been heading in the right direction.

I was a little bit unlucky with the injury that I suffered in the spring. I was forced to first miss two and a half weeks, which was then followed by a month and a half out. The latter was the longest period that I have been out with an injury. This is now the past, and on the whole I feel that it has been a good year for me. For us to make it into the group stages of the Europa league once again, we will have to play two extra games than we did last time around. It will not be easy at all for us. We will need to go step by step, and concentrate primarily on the first qualification stage. We will need to play football with lots of humility if we are to achieve our aims. It was a long season and now we will have a short break, which I am spending back in Portugal" - explained Portuguese midfielder Filipe Oliveira.
