Match Report: Goaless draw away at Mezokovesd

There were no goals on Saturday in the OTP league match away at Mezokovesd.

Videoton were in OTP league action on Saturday evening with a trip to Mezokovesd in match 26 of the season. Vidi went level on points with leaders Ferencvaros on Wednesday after the 4-1 away win at Honved. FTC played their league game at Debrecen later in the evening so a point or more would see the red and blues go top.

Jozsef Varga did not make the journey with the squad having received a kick in training. Krisztian Geresi continues to miss out through injury while Nego sat the game out through suspension. His place at right back went to Attila Fiola, while Marko Scepovic came back into the side in place or Huszti, who was a substitute.

The first chance arrived on 3 minutes when lovely link up play between Nikolov-Lazovic-Stefan-Marko and Patkai ended with the latter being shrugged off the ball by a defender. Cseri had a chance for the home side from 24 meters out, but his shot was off target.

There were 11 minutes on the clock when Cseri played the ball to the right and a Farkas cross was cleared by a Vidi defender. The ball fell back to Cseri who shot just over. Drazik then elbowed Vinicius after 17 minutes, Hadzic fouled Bence Toth moments later. Both went into the book for those fouls. Lazovic sent a 28th minute free kick into the box, which was headed clear. Cseri then ran the length of the pitch from the resulting counter attack, but his left foot shot was saved by Kovacsik. A couple of minutes later, Bence Toth elbowed Nikolov and he entered the referee's book. Juhasz was next to see yellow after he squared up with Toth following a challenge between the Mezokovesd player and Fiola. Cseri was yet another to be cautioned for his challenge on Lazovic after 35 minutes.

The action continued on 39 minutes with the biggest chance of the half. Marko Scepovic lifted the ball over the defender and into the path of Fiola. The right back controlled the ball with his chest, before allowing it to bounce and hitting the ball from 7 meters, which only just went over. There was no further chances as the two sides went in at the break 0-0.

The second half began and the first change came quickly: Huszti came on for Nikolov. Iszlai tripped Fiola on 54 minutes, and he was shown a yellow card. The first real dangerous chance of the second period arrived after 64 minutes, with Mezokovesd going on the attack in a 4 versus 4 move. Farkas chose to pass to Bognar when he could have shot, and the latter released Vadnai, but Kovacsik was quick to react and claimed the ball. Drazic also had a 30 meter shot go over the bar two minutes later.

Huszti took a free kick after 68 minutes, which sailed over the bar, while Istvan Kovacs came on in place of Stefan Scepovic. A move involving Toth-Vadnai and Drazic ended with the Serbian forward in a one on one with defender Vinicius. It was the Vidi player that emerged the better as he blocked the move. Elvir Hadzic came on as a substitute for his first appearance for the first team. He replaced Mate Patkai with around 10 minutes left to play. The three minutes of injury time saw the home side bring on Koszta for Drazic, but there was no further chance as the referee blew the full time whistle.
