Match Report: An important win against Balmazujvaros

Vidi scored towards the end through the head of Juhasz to secure the 3 points.

Round 23 of the OTP league season saw Marko Nikolic' side take on Balmazujvaros at the Pancho Arena. The Vidi manager named the same starting eleven as he did a week earlier against DVTK. Varga and Huszti were named on the subs bench, having not been in the squad a week earlier due to slight injuries and illness. Hungarian national team manager Georges Leekens watched the game from the stand.

The first chance of the game arrived on 12 minutes. Lazovic shot from 23 meters, but his low effort on a slippery pitch was palmed away by Horvath. It was Vidi that continued to enjoy more of the ball as the game continued, but they could not break down a stable visiting defence. The next chance came 10 minutes later when Stopira sent a ball into the middle, which fell to Lazovic, but he shot over from 23 meters.

The teams went in at the break with the score at 0-0. The rain continued to come down and the cold conditions made the game hard to enjoy. The picture of the game did not change in the second period with Vidi looking dangerous from set-pieces. The visiting goal was again under pressure after 58 minutes. A corner was just about cleared off the goal line by a defender in a white shirt. Winter signing Szabolcs Huszti came on for his first appearance on the hour mark. His last NBI match was back on the 26th May 2005. He was a FTC player back then in a game against Honved. Andric got hold of the ball for Balmazujvaros after 69 minutes, before finding Haris, who shot with his left foot, which Kovacsik saved nicely.

Stopira headed into the middle of the box with 10 minutes remaining, and Scepovic with his back to goal controlled the ball, before playing it on to Lazovic, but Tamas slid in to clear the danger. Vidi found the breakthrough after 84 minutes: Lazovic sent a curling free kick from close to the touchline into the box, which Juhasz connected with to find the back of the empty net. Keeper Horvath came out of his goal but he could not collect the ball. (1-0).

Vidi comfortably defended the lead in the closing moments and ended up winning 1-0. The international break will follow with Videoton next in action against the Puskas Academy in two weeks time.
