The clubs new captain looked back on the super cup and his own sending off
New captain Zoltan Liptak has already worn the captain's armband for Videoton in the past. Having been assistant captain before, he finally made his debut as the new captain on Friday evening.
Zoltan Liptak: It was very important that we began the new season with a win. We also managed to gain revenge for our defeat in May's Hungarian cup final. I am also aware, as are the other players, that are game wasn't perfect, but we are heading on the right road. I know that this is not an excuse, but I cannot remember if I have played in such heat before. The first half saw us play in 30c+ and it affected us. The coaching staff told us to go out there and be tough, and is was expected that the home side would also struggle with the conditions. I would not say that this was a bad tempered match, and perhaps we were at fault that we could not be as competitive as the home side were in certain parts of the game. We will need to put this right in the future. Naturally, I did not agree with my sending off. I felt that the referee did not really see what trully happened. I also think that he felt that he may have made a mistake. The referee told me after the game that he regretted what had happened, and that he would look at the tv coverage later. However, I have moved on and am not that concerned anymore about the whole episode. Things turned out as they did, and the referee is also human, and can also make mistakes."
