We spoke with our striker not only about the league match against PAFC, but also about the standard of the Hungarian league and Fehérvár's performance so far.
With five rounds to go before the end of the season, you have already seen all the NB I teams play. Based on your experience over the past few months, what is your opinion of Hungarian club football?
My first impressions of NB I are very positive; the league is of a high standard. The teams play honest, open football, and there are lots of chances in almost every game, which is obviously great for a striker. The stadiums are also very nice; you can see that football is important in Hungary.
On Saturday, we are visiting Felcsút. What kind of match are you expecting against Puskás Akadémia FC, who are fighting for the championship title?
We're not in an easy situation; we'll be playing against strong teams in the coming weeks. I think we played well in our last league match against MTK, we created a lot of chances, but unfortunately we didn't manage to keep the three points at home. It's important to emphasize our good team spirit and the fact that we have quality players in our squad. We're preparing hard for the league match against Puskás, but not just for this one game; we have to show our quality and what we're capable of on the pitch in the remaining five league matches. I remember our home game against Puskás, which we won 1-0. I didn't play then, but I was in the stands and saw that PAFC is a strong team, but we managed to get the better of them as a team. This time, we must not focus on our opponents, but on ourselves, and we must do what the coaching staff asks of us on the pitch. I am confident that we will take all three points this time.
So far, you have scored seven goals in 11 matches for Vidi, which means you are having an excellent spring season. Did you think you would be this successful when you signed with us in the winter?
Before I came to Vidi, I hadn't played for about six months, but I worked continuously with my personal trainer to get in shape. When I arrived at Vidi, I was completely fit and managed to integrate into the team very quickly. I feel good on the pitch and, of course, the first few goals gave me confidence. Although I haven't managed to score in the last two games I've played, the team's success is always the most important thing for me; whether I score or not is secondary. Of course, I have goals, it would be nice to score another 3-4 goals by the end of the season, but as I said, the team's success comes first.
