Our head coach, Krisztián Tímár, put his faith in the following eleven players against Paksi FC: Dala – Petrov, Spandler, Kalandadze – Simut, Melnyik, Bedi, Katona, Milicevic – Stefanelli, Holender.
We started the match energetically; Bence Bedi's long-range shot was blocked and went out for a corner, then Ivan Milicevic's corner kick was headed over the bar by Simeon Petrov from close range. The response came quickly, with Kristóf Papp's attempt being saved by Martin Dala.
In the 15th minute, Bence Ötvös passed to Barna Tóth, who slid the ball just wide of the far post. That was a big chance! Our team stepped up their game, and Filip Holender found himself in a good position, but the referee stopped play for offside. In the 23rd minute, Nicolas Stefanelli set up Holender, who found Péter Szappanos's foot in a one-on-one situation.
The missed opportunity did not discourage our team, and we played with motivation and determination in a fast tempo match. It looked like the first half would end goalless, until in the 44th minute, Alekszandre Kalandadze played a short pass back, Szabolcs Mezei pounced on the ball and Dániel Böde shot into the empty net (0-1).
After the break, the match continued without any substitutions. However, rain arrived in Sóstó. In the 49th minute, Bohdan Melnyik's shot from a sharp angle was headed out by Silye Erik.
In the 53rd minute, Stefanelli won a free kick, but Milicevic's shot from 18 meters was blocked by the wall. We continued to fight for the equalizer, but the wet pitch led to many mistakes. In the 60th minute, substitute Pető Milán found himself in a good position, but his shot went wide.
Further substitutions followed, with Krisztián Tímár sending Lirim Kastrati, Mátyás Kovács, and Kristian Sekularac into the fray. The two substitutes immediately made their mark, with Sekularac passing to Kovács, who shot at goal from 16 meters, but Szappanos made a great save! In the 79th minute, Pető got on the end of a pass from Kovács, but his header was once again brilliantly saved by the Paks goalkeeper.
The equalizer was coming, but instead we conceded another goal: in the 81st minute, Ádám Martin won the ball in our half and sent Bence Ötvös through on goal, who calmly slotted home (0-2). The match was decided by Paks' second goal, and we were unable to improve our score before the final whistle, with Tolna taking all three points from Székesfehérvár.
