PRESS CONFERENCE

"We had high hopes for the players who took to the pitch today"

Tamás Pető and Tamás Feczkó gave their assessment of the DVTK v Videoton FC Fehérvár MOL Hungarian Cup match.

Tamás Pető:

"We played with a reshuffled line-up, but regardless of that, our performance in the first half was unacceptable; quite a few players didn’t seem to realise which team they were playing for. In the second half, we tried to stabilise our play with substitutions, which worked; our first-team regulars showed why they feature regularly in league matches. We had high hopes for the players who took to the pitch today, but after this match we too must reflect on just how deep our squad really is. I take responsibility for the first half, as I was the one who selected this team; I thought they would be able to live up to the trust placed in them. We tried to give an opportunity to those players who’d had fewer minutes on the pitch so far, but in hindsight, that proved to be the wrong decision. I’d like to congratulate DVTK and wish them every success in the future!”

Tamás Feczkó:

"The players put in a truly humble effort over these 3–4 days that we were able to train together, so I was certain that this would pay off on the pitch. The tactical elements we’d practised worked well and were evident in the match. We went out with an attacking mindset from the very first moment; our aim was clear: to secure our place in the next round. I’d like to congratulate all my players, and I feel for the young lads who weren’t able to take to the pitch today, because they, too, gave their all on the training ground this week.”
