Vidi make it through to the next round against Vasas

The MOL Hungarian Cup Round 8 saw Vidi travel to Budapest to take on Vasas. A place in the last 16 as at stake having already beaten Tiszafoldvar 5-0 and Gardony 4-1 in earlier rounds. Manager Gabor Marton chose the following eleven in this cup tie: Kovács Dániel - Bolla, Rus, Stopira, Fiola, Hangya - Alef, R. Pinto - Petryak, Zivzivadze, Funsho.

We started the match well, Petryak being well found by Fiola, our winger took the ball beside home keeper Rados, then shot at goal, but the ball was cleared off the line and fell into the path of Zivzivadze, who made no mistake from 2 meters (0-1).

Three minutes later and a powerful shot from Zivzivadze came off Litauszki and out for a corner. Bolla showed good skill down the right after 10 minutes before curling a left footed shot over the bar. Things would get worse for the Vidi right back three minutes later when Kalmar's outstretched foot caught Bolla, who was forced to come off injured. The home player only picked up a yellow from referee Karako. Nego came on for Bolla for the remainder of the game. Hinora shot from 20 meters with power for Vasas, but it went over the bar. Vidi doubled their lead on the evening: Petryak aiming from distance and clipping the foot of a defender to land in the back of the net 0-2. 

There was almost a third for Vidi after 30 minutes when a free kick ended with Rus heading from 13 meters against the foot of the post. However, the Vidi defender would unfortunately find his own net three minutes later: Hinora's cross from the right coming off Rus and giving Kovacs no chance 1-2. 

Petryak shot from a tight angle after 38 minutes following a good move, but although keeper Rados was beaten, Szivacski managed to clear off the line ahead of Funsho. Rus curled a 44th minute free kick into the wall with the two sides going in at the break with MOL Fehervar leading 2-1. 

The second half began with a chance for Vasas when Pekar sent a shot from a tight angle at Kovacs, who produced a good save. Petryak brought Nego into play after 54 minutes down the right, with our international defender playing the ball back to Petryak, whose effort only just went the wrong side of the post from 10 meters. 

Pekar had a chance for Vasas a minute later, but his shot was blocked by Stopira. Vasas pounced on a loose ball after 62 minutes and a quick counter attack ended with Feczesin crossing, but Pinto was well placed to clear the danger ahead of Szatmari. 

Szabo sent a dangerous ball across the face of the home goal after 74 minutes but nobody could get on the end of it. A Houri corner on 81 minutes was headed at goal by Alef, but a Vasas defender headed the ball off the line, with Vidi going really close to finding a third. Kapornai had a shot for the home side four minutes later from 13 meters, but it failed to hit the target. The referee blew for full time and Vidi will now travel to Ferencvaros in the next round in a game to be played on either the 23rd or 24th February.
