Videoton have to wait a little longer

Videoton let a two goal lead slip from their grasp, as Honved fought back to gain a point and make Vidi wait a little longer for their first title win.

Videoton raced into an early two goal lead, after goals from Andre Alves and Andras Gosztonyi. The Brazilian opened the score on ten minutes, and Vidi appeared to be flying towards their first league title win, when Gosztonyi doubled the score three minutes later. Three points from this match would have given the red and blues the title, and send the thousand plus visiting supporters into euphoria. However, Honved, who have been on a great run of late, picking up welve points from their last fifteen, had other ideas. Attila Supka's Honved side showed character and fight to battle back, when it looked as if there would only be one winner. Zelenka brought his side back in to the game, and then Ivancsics levelled for the Budapest club. Paks, who are in second place, secured a win over Ujpest on Saturday, to keep themselves in the title race on points only.

Realistically, there is little hope that they can take the top spot away from Gyorgy Mezey's side. They would have to win their last three matches, while Vidi would have to lose all of theirs. That seems very unlikely, so the attention will now switch to Wednesday evening's home match against Kaposvar. Gyorgy Mezey made several changes to his starting line up. He recalled defender Marko Andjics, who has missed several games lately due to a contract dispute. Gyorgy Sandor shaked off a slight inury to partner Akos Elek in central midfield. Elek himself had a thigh worry, but he was fit to start the match. Nikolics retained his place alongside Andre Alves in attack, with the rest of the side virtually picking itself. In the end, Vidi will be disappointed not to have wrapped up the league with three points. Very few inside the stadium would have thought otherwise, after fifteen minutes. Patience is a virtue, and that will be needed ahead of Wednesday's match, when things will surely finally be decided.
