Videoton played well depite the defeat

Sebők – Andics, Lipták, Milanovics, Hidvégi – Gosztonyi, Sándor, Farkas, Polonkai – Vujovics, Nikolics. It was Vidi that came up with the first chance after just 10 minutes. Polonkai delivered from the left and Vujovics just failed to find the target. Mezey's side went on to create further chances in the first 25 minutes.

Liptak had an effort on goal from a Gosztonyi free kick after 15 minutes. Sandor and Nikolics also went close as Videoton threatened the Slovan goal. Andics also sent two powerful free kicks on goal, but both did not find the net. Sebok was brought into action twice in the first half. The score was 0-0 at the break, with Mezey making three changes at thr break. Andics went over to left back, to replace Hidvegi, with Lazar coming on at right back. Szakaly came on for Polonkai, while Alves replaced Vujovics. Nikolics had a good effort with a header on 55 minutes. It was at this point that Slovan upped the pace and began to dominate. Gyorgy Mezey made further changes with Ponczok coming on for Gosztonyi, while Nikolics went off to be replaced by Sitku. Slovan still came forward putting pressure on the Vidi goal. The only goal of the game came after 66 minutes, when a header beat Sebok.

The game became more balanced following that goal, with Alves going on a good run on 70 minutes, before lifting the ball in towards Sandor who shot just wide of the post. The final whistle blew and it was the Slovakian side that emerged 1-0 winners.
