Two massive goals gives Videoton the points at the Hidegkuti stadium

Goals from Alvarez and Nildo secured Videoton an important away win in Budapest.

In lovely warm spring weather at the home of MTK in Budapest, Vidi were involved in the 21st weekend of the current league season. The first half did not have too many chances in front of either goal. Kovacs tried to release Nikolics after 22 minutes, but his through ball was a little bit strong, with the forward unable to control the ball as a result.

The biggest chance of the first half fell to the home side: Torghelle hit a low shot, which rebounded off the post and on to the back of Calatayud, but the danger eventually passed with the ball going over the bar. Gyurcso had two chances in the final moments of the first half. The first was a long range shot, which Hegedus confidently saved. The second was a free kick from 22 meters, which went over the bar.

The general shape of the game did not change too much at the start of the second half. Zé Luis came on as a substitute on the hour mark, and Vidi switch things and played with two up front. Alvarez went on a run down the right on 72 minutes, before cutting in and unleashing an unstoppable shot from 20 meters out (0-1).

Things became even better two minutes later with a Nildo free kick. Poor picked up a yellow card for fouling Zé Luis in the lead up. Nildo stood behind the ball and calmly curled the ball in to the corner of the net to make it 0-2.

MTK tried their best to get back in to the match, and they scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot. Referee Kasai did not hesitate to point at the spot. Torghelle confidently scored to make it 1-2. The home side did not create any more chances with the three points never really being in danger.

The big match at home to Debrecen will take place at the Sostoi next Sunday.
