The views of the two managers

Gyorgy Mezey looked back on the 3-1 home win

Gyorgy Mezey: "Szolnok had an organised defence, with clever players, who looked to use the counter attack. I would mention an important moment with regards to our side: It is very hard to absorb the fact that we did not take full advantage of the many chances that we created. You could feel this on the players at half time, in the dressing room. THings would have been far more easy had we taken the lead in the first 20 minutes. That would have meant Szolnok taking more chances. However, it did not turn out this way. Luckily we were able to get over this, and the players showed a special mental energy, to go out and play the way they did in the second half. Nikolics felt very down at half time with the many missed chances he had, which is why I decided to take him off at the break. I was thinking of making three changes then, but I did not want to take that gamble in the end. We will have more chances in future games based on what we saw in the first half. We deserved our win with the way we played in the second half. I would say that the game was a battle overall. Everyone expected us to win this game by many goals, which could have turned out like that in the end. Sandor even hit the post in the last minute. I would like to thank the fans for their support! If we get backing and patience from both the fans and the management, this team will meat the expectations."

Attila Vágó: "Videoton completely deserved their victory on their second half performance, as they produced a quicker paced game. The first half went as I expected it to. The expectation on Videoton is massive, and you can feel it in their players, who have a lot of pressure on their shoulders. We tried to take advantage of this, and we took the lead through a penalty. There is a big difference between the two sides, not only in the football but also in the aims. Videoton will be aiming to win the title, while we will be fighting to avoid relegation. The home side made quality substitutions, which helped them turn the game in their favour. They did not take the chances that came their way in  the first half, but this was not the case in the second half. I also have to note that as a small club, we could not cope with the turning points in the match."
