Tamas Szalai: Football can sometimes be unfair

The two managers shared their thoughts shortly after Sunday's final whistle.

Tamas Szalai:

"We started the match well and had a lot more of the ball in the first half, we were more proactive, the home team played more counter attack football. We also had two or three chances in the 45 minutes, only the goal was missing from our game. In the first half, I saw a lot of what we practised again. Unfortunately, in the second half, after a lack of concentration, we conceded a goal. I’m very sorry because everyone pressed forward and the team put a lot of work into this match. Football is a little unfair at such times because overall I think we were closer to winning. Of course, we won’t give up the fight for second place, there are still seven league matches this season and anything can happen. Here, too, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the guys for this past one month while I was able to lead the team as a caretaker manager. It was a great experience to work with them, they were partners, I feel we managed to shake them up a bit after a very bad series, as a result of which we are in the semi-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup, which of course we want to win."

Zsolt Hornyak:

“Thank you very much to my team for their attitude and the result. The match was as difficult as I expected, as MOL Fehérvár FC are a quality side. They attacked, they came on the pitch with great motivation, but in the middle third of the pitch, we tried to defend their attacks well. There were a lot of inaccuracies in our game at the beginning of the match, and that should be acknowledged. It is always a great value to beat a good team, so I am especially happy to win. A nice moment decided the fate of the three points in the end, we were able to score a nice goal. I don’t want to count ahead for second place, we have to go from match to match, we’ll draw a line at the end of the season. I don’t want to shout anything, but I can promise we’ll do our best to keep second place.”
