Videoton went in to the game on the back of an unbeaten run of 13 games. Paulo Sousa's side also completed a 4-0 aggregate win over Diosgyőr in the league cup over the last couple of weeks. This win confirmed the current high confidence within the squad. Paulo Sousa went for his usual settled side, which saw Bozovic keep his place in between the posts. The regular back line of Brachi on the right, young Szolnoki on the left and Vinicius and Caneira in the middle meant continuity, which has been the basis of this fine unbeaten run.

Oliveira, Toth, Sandor, Mitrovic and Walter offered various options for Torghelle who battled hard up front. A good crowd of around 10,000 produced a good atmosphere, and Vidi were looking to silence the crowd early on. They managed to do just that when Torghelle headed against the post following a Mitrovic long ball, with the alert Vinicius reacting the fastest to volley home from virtually in front of the goal. 

The home side were certainly putting the boot in early on, with Budovinszky having his own personal battle with Torghelle. Abdouraman headed wide of the post following a cross from Luque after 5 minutes, as Diosgyőr tried to get back in the game. Home keeper Farkas collected a dangerous looking Brachi free kick from the right. Sekour then became the first player to go in to the referee's notebook on 12 minutes, after he fouled Torghelle. Caneira did well to block a Luque shot after 17 minutes following a cross, as the home side began to see more of the ball.

Toth then saw his powerful shot go just over the crossbar after 22 minutes. The atmosphere inside the stadium remained hot, with Walter

Paulo Sousa chose not to make any changes at the break, as Vidi went looking for the second goal, which would have given them a cushion in the match. Vidi saw more of the ball in the opening exchanges, while Diosgyőr tried to build from the back, although they could not find a way through the well marshalled Vidi backline. Diosgyőr were pushing Videoton back in to their own half as the game went on, with the men from Fehervar happy to hit the home side on the counter break. Torghelle was caught offside on 66 minutes, having been nicely put through by Szolnoki. Walter was seeing plenty of the ball on the left, causing problems with his trickery for the Miskolc side. Mitrovic brought down Tisza on the edge of the box, with the dangerous Luque hitting his free kick in to the wall. 

Nikolics came on for Torghelle on 70 minutes to add some pace to the Vidi attack, and his presence soon gave Vidi something extra to celebrate. Brachi came forward on the right, and his great inswinging cross was volleyed home by Nikolics to make it 2-0. Nikolics also tracked back shortly after his goal to block a Luque shot. Brachi went into the referee's book on 80 minutes, and he was soon seeing red after the right back brought down Seydi. However, the 10 men of Vidi comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to pick up an important 3 points.
