PMFC come from behind in injury time in the five-goal league match

Our women’s team hosted PMFC in the fourth round of the Simple Women’s League NB I on Wednesday at 5.00 pm in Sóstó. Head coach Péter Andorka – whose side had recorded two wins and one defeat in the first three rounds of the season – fielded the following starting eleven: Major – Kövesdi, Bolboaca, Tóth, Kántor – Kovács La., Pintér – Szalay, Bognár, Feil – Nagy.

The first half ended goalless, with few chances created on the pitch. At half-time, our team made a substitution, with Tamás – who had scored the winning goal in Szeged – coming on for Feil.

We had to wait until the closing stages for the goals to flow. Vidi girls took the lead in the 78th minute when Bolboaca fired into the visitors’ net following a scramble inside the box (1–0). Acsádi responded in the 84th minute (1–1), but we regained the lead in the 87th minute when Nagy played a through ball to Bognár, who broke free from behind the defenders and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the net (2–1). In the 91st minute, Pécs equalised once more through a goal from Farkas (2–2). Our players pushed forward in search of victory, but from a counter-attack in the dying moments before the final whistle, in the 94th minute, Papp scored the winning goal for PMFC, making the final score 2–3.

Head coach’s assessment

“In the first half, we withstood the opposition’s pressure well and defended in a disciplined, compact manner. If we’d been more precise in our transitions, we could have created chances. In the second half, we managed to score two goals from these, but in injury time, PMFC capitalised on our lack of experience to score two goals of their own, which saw them win the match. The girls played with discipline throughout and gave their all; we can build on this" – head coach Péter Andorka told our website.
