There were very few chances over the 90 minutes. The home team were more dangerous in the second half and deserved to keep the 3 points in the end.
Vidi walked out on to the pitch for the first time as league champions after clinching the title a week before. The home supporters were also very sporting as they applauded the visiting team while the PA system rang out to the tune of "We are the Champions"!
The first half was dominated mainly by the battles around the pitch, with only two real chances being created in front of goal. Those both fell to Feczesin. The first came on 17 minutes after a lovely curling ball in from Gyurcso. The Vidi forward headed just wide from a tight angle. The second chance arrived after 35 minutes following a cross from the left that ended with a header going over the keeper and eventually being cleared off the goal line by Lenzser. The assistant referee signalled that the ball had not crossed the line. It was Vidi who were enjoying more of the ball in the first period. However, Aurel Csertoi's side were solid at the back with Vidi finding it hard to break down.
The picture of the game remained the same at the start of the second half. The biggest chance of the match came after 58 minutes and it fell to the home side. Bartha went down the left wing and managed to slip the ball past Szolnoki, before unselfishly finding Konyves, with the ball dangerously bouncing off the player and it required a very good save from Calatayud. Haraszti curled a free kick just wide of the target after 67 minutes, which saw the home side the more dangerous during this period. The result came after 80 minutes with the only goal of the match. A long distance difficult shot from Haraszti rebounded off Calatayud, with Vinicius doing his best to clear the danger. However, the ball fell to Konyves who made no mistake from close range (1-0). Vidi tried hard to secure the equalizer in the final minutes that remained, but without success. That meant that Videoton suffered their second defeat in 27 games in the league. Honved away is next up at the weekend. That does not promise to be an easy affair with the Budapest side battling hard to avoid relegation.
