Videoton played the latest friendly of the Spanish training camp against Russian giants CSKA Moscow.
Videoton continued their preparations for the spring season ahead with another friendly match against strong and well known opponents. Russian giants CSKA Moscow were sure to give José Gomes' side a test and Vidi did not disappoint with a good performance, which suggests that they are heading on the right road, as the Videoton manager said after the match.
The game kicked off in rainy conditions with the temperature at around the 14c mark. It was the third friendly match of the second training camp against the Russian league and cup champions. The Moscow side had more of the ball in the early exchanges. The first chance came after a ball from Sandor deflected off the match official, before landing at the feet of Doumbia, but his shot was blocked at the last moment. The Ivory Coast forward had another chance a couple of minutes later as his shot went wide of the post. Marco Caneira was unfortunate to suffer an injury on 9 minutes, which meant that he was forced to come off early on. Vinicius came on in his place.
Nikolics reminded the Russian side that they were also very much in the game. The match became more balanced as the minutes ticked by in the first period. The dangerous looking Doumbia then put CSKA ahead on 33 minutes. A ball from Vinicius was intercepted and the forward found the back of the net from 16 meters out. (0-1).
Vidi stepped things up after falling behind. They found themselves in front of the opponents goal on several occasions. The equaliser was not long in coming. A ball into the box resulted in Nikolics being pushed, with the match official pointing to the spot. Niko made no mistake as he sent the keeper the wrong way to draw level (1-1).
CSKA could have had a penalty at the other end but the referee decided against Dzagoev' appeal. The two sides went in at the break level. Vidi made three changes at half time, while CSKA changed their entire side.
The game changed as a result with Vidi enjoying more of the possession. The chances, however, fell to the Moscow side, but they found Tujvel in the Vidi goal equal to things. Vidi, who were playing in their light blue tops and white shorts could have gone ahead, but Alvarez fired over from a good position. Musa then settled the game for the Russians with a fine individual goal, which ended up in the bottom left hand corner of the net. (1-2).
Zrelak received two yellow cards inside a couple of minutes, which meant that he went off for an early shower with 15 minutes left on the clock. Vidi created a couple of chances to equalize, including a Sandor shot from 24 meters, which went over. Haraszti's free kick was saved by the keeper as the final whistle blew and a result of 1-2.
The final friendly match in Spain will be against Norwegian side Stromsgodset on Thursday.
