Match Report: Vidi come from behind to beat Kisvarda

Goals from Kovacs and Hadzic gave MOL Vidi FC the 3 points on Saturday evening.

Kisvarda arrived at the MOL Arena Sosto as the best in form side in the NB I. The visitors had not lost in seven consecutive games.

Manager Marko Nikolic had Armin Hodic and Mate Patkai on the bench while the opponents had 6 goal striker Zoltan Horvath, Sasa ad Rados Protic not starting the game. It was the third time that the two had met with the most recent match ending in a 2-2 draw in the autumn. Kisvarda had 25 times Romanian international Gheorghe Grozav in their starting eleven.

Vidi kicked off the game and put pressure on the visiting goal straight away. Huszti sent in a dangerous cross, which went across the face of the goal. Then Milanov did the same with the ball deflecting off a defender and coming off the bar. Kisvarda went down the other end after 11 minutes and Kovacsik had to save well to stop a shot from the right from Tsoukalas. Vidi replied and again went close to scoring: Milanov and Kovacs battled for the ball, with the latter back heeling the ball to Nego, and the defender sent a ball into the middle and it went over Scepovic, but both Elek and Stopira got in the way of each other as the left back shot over. Milanov played in Scepovic after 15 minutes and he played the ball past Vari, before shooting at keeper Felipe from 15 meters.

There was 20 minutes on the clock when Milanov again found Nego with a sharp cross, but the ball went away from Kovacs. Kisvarda went ahead after 32 minutes. Hadzic and Vinicius tried to get hold of the ball but it was Ilic who took the ball away down the right before placing a low shot into the far corner of the net (0-1). A counter attack ended with Milanov after 39 minutes shooting from 23 meters but Felipe produced a big save to deny him. A Huszti free kick on 41 minutes bounced in front of Juhasz, and he chose to play it onto Milanov instead of shooting, and the Bulgarian saw his low shot end up in the hands of the Brazilian keeper.

The final moments of the first half included a good curling cross from Kovacs, which was aimed at Scepovic, but keeper Felipe managed to palm the ball away. Five minutes of injury time had the visitors on the counter attack and Ilic shot wide of the right post from 13 meters. The two sides went in at the break with Kisvarda leading 1-0.

The second half started with a chance for Vidi and an effort from Kovacs from 23 meters, which Felipe collected. MOL Vidi were back in the game and level after 59 minutes when Huszti lifted a ball into the middle, which Kovacs eventually controlled and from 7 meters struck a low shot into the back of the net (1-1).

Hodzic came on for Milanov after 61 minutes. Huszti tried with an effort from 25 meters, which landed in the hands of Felipe. MOL Vidi then turned the game around after 70 minutes: Nego sent in a cross, which after some confusion ended with the ball at the feet of Hodzic. He looked up and his low shot went in off the post to give Vidi a 2-1 lead.

Nego tried to cut out a cross after 74 minutes, which Grozav was alert to from 16 meters, and his volley went just wide. Hodzic almost doubled his goals in the game when a pass from Scepovic bounced in front of him, but it hit his hand before the forward shot into the back of the net with referee Berke blowing his whistle. Kovacs sent a long ball, which released Scepovic on 79 minutes, and Felipe was slow to come out of goal as the Serbian forward took the ball beyond him, but failed to find Hodzic with a cross into the middle. Elek was replaced by Nikolov after 82 minutes and Patkai also came on 5 minutes later for Scepovic.

Kovacsik could not punch a Sassa cross on 90 minutes and the goal remained empty, but Grozav failed to hit the target and Kovacs was on hand to block an important situation. Nego eventually blocked from Horvath and the danger went away as Stopira finally cleared.

The four minutes of injury time did not produce any new chances and it was MOL Vidi that kept the 3 important league points at home.
