The winger spoke as he prepares to face his former side on Sunday afternoon.
Vidi take on Ferencvaros at the MOL Arena Sosto on Sunday at 17:00pm. In form Ivan Petryak spoke to M4 Sport ahead of the game. He also revealed the work that has began since the appointment of the new coaching team on the 1st April.
“A lot has changed, if I really want to simplify it, I can say that we started playing football. I am really enjoying this period Everyone trains and plays with great intensity, there is no sure place in the starting team, but the one who only gets on the small does all he can and pushes that much extra in the next training. We were just talking to Loic this week about how different it is to enter the dressing room now. Smiling faces everywhere, great atmosphere and team unity. It wasn’t bad before, but now a lot of things have really changed. Of course, mistakes are the same on our part as before, but we always only get support and encouragement from the coaching staff. Now all of a sudden the match against Honved jumps into mind, where the game didn't go as we planned and I had just missed a chance, but when I looked at the bench, Sandor Torghelle just stood up and shouted at me to do it, go on, the next one will work, and so on.”
Sports TV reporter Kristof Korsos also wondered if Ivan, as a former FTC player, felt extra motivation against his former team.
“I can honestly say no. I have played against them many times in the league, or most recently in the MOL Hungarian Cup. They also want to win on Sunday and of course we do. I want to help my team with a good performance. Ferencvaros have a strong team, I don't think the match will be affected by the fact that they are already champions. In recent years there have always been high-quality, sharp matches, with goals, battles and cards, but for a fan it is okay. Football is just that, football players sometimes switch teams, but that’s why I still talk to my former teammates in the same way, or just my compatriots like Zubkov and Kharatin. I was glad that they performed well in the CL. I feel that if Vidi, Ferencvaros or any Hungarian team successfully performs in Europe, it is good for the whole Hungarian football. And I wish ourselves by the end of the season to win all the remaining matches of the campaign, as that would mean we are cup winners and maybe even get to second place at the end of this weird season.”
