Comfortable 3-0 win against Ujpest

The score was 0-0 at half time. A Gyurcso double and Kovacs goal in the second half gave Vidi the points. The visitors played the final 20 minutes with 10 men.

The two clubs met for the 97th time in the first division on Saturday evening. Vidi have not played more games againt any other side in the top division, with Videoton enjoying the better overal record over the Budapest club.

It was the home team that started the game more actively. Nego's cross on 7 minutes fell to Patkai who laid the ball on for Poloskei, who shot from 14 meters, but his effort was blocked. Oliveria then shot from a tight angle moments later with keeper Balajcza saving just in front of Gyurcso. The first chance for Ujpest arrived 4 minutes later. Andric raced on to the ball ahead of Patkai, with Salloi shooting just wide of the left hand post from around 13 meters out. The biggest chance of the game came on 26 minutes. Gyurcso's shot was blocked and it fell to Poloskei, who from 16 meters out shot just wide of the left post. Former Ujpest defender, Loic Nego also went close to scoring after 32 minutes. Oliveira sent a high ball from the left to the far post, for the arriving Nego to volley from 8 meters out, which required a very good save from keeper Balajcza. The Ujpest keeper was again tested 4 minutes later after Oliveira tested him. The experienced keeper did well to keep the effort out.

It was Vidi who dominated the second half. The 51st minute saw a short corner from Gyurcso, which found Oliveira, who sent a high ball to the far post that was met with a Nego volley. It hit the hand of Diagne but referee Solymosi did not award a penalty. The referee's whistle could be heard 6 minutes later! A cross from Suljic was handled by Mohl in the box and the penalty was given. Gyurco stepped up and comfortably found the back of the net to make it (1-0).

Poloskei had a long distance shot after 66 minutes following a free kick. The midfielder had to come off shortly after with an injury to his hand. Roland Szolnoki came on to replace him at right back, with Nego moving forward to midfield. Heris then brought down Kovacs after 72 minutes, which resulted in a second yellow card for the visiting player. There were chances at both ends in the minutes that followed. The first fell to Filkor with a shot, while Lang had a chance with a header. Kovacs went on a fine run after 81 minutes, which was ended with a push from Kalnoki inside the area. However, the referee failed to see a foul and the action continued. Balajcsza pulled off a very good save to deny Gyurcso 4 minutes later. The keeper could do nothing moments later following a cross by Stopira, ending with Gyurcso blasting the ball home to make it 2-0.

The match was finally settled in the 90th minute after Suljic found Kovacs with a fine ball. The midielder made no mistake to shoot from 14 meters to make it 3-0. The 3 minutes of injury time saw further chances. The first was a good run from Suljic before further efforts from both Szolnoki and Kovacs. The final whistle went and Vidi emerged 3-0 winners. Vidi travel to Bekescsaba next on the 26th September.
