Goals from Nikolic and Stopira earned Vidi an away cup win on Wednesday evening.
Temporary manager Tamas Szalai chose the following side for the MOL Hungarian Cup match against FTC: Kovacs - Nego, Musliu, Stopira, Fiola, Hangya - Funsho, Alef, Petryak - Zivzivadze, Nikolic. Vidi already knew that a win over FTC would mean a tie against Budafok in the next round. Csaba Csizmadia's side having won 4-2 away at Paks earlier in the evening.
We started the game the better and Zivzivadze released Hangya on 3 minutes, who crossed for Funsho to shoot, but a home defender managed to block his effort. Four minutes later and Petryak played a one-two with Zivzivadze, but Mmaee pulled down Ukrainian winger Petryak and the referee pointed to the spot. Nikolic confidently dispatched the penalty into the back of the net to make it 0-1.
We could not hold the lead for too long as a cross from Civic was flicked on by Stopira and unfortunately the ball went beyond his own keeper to make it 1-1. Keeper Kovacs having no chance to keep the header out. Nego found Petryak with a pass on 16 minutes, who chose to shoot at goal instead of cross, but the ball went over. At the other end, Uzuni's cross just failed to meet Zubkov and Kovacs gathered the ball. Zubkov again had a chance on 31 minutes as his long range free kick missed our goal. A minute later and Tokmac came away with the ball, with Kovacs trying to save with his feet, and in the end our keeper gathered the ball.
Hangya received a good ball from Nego after 33 minutes and he sent a shot from 15 meters at Dibusz, who produced a big save. Not long after and Kovacs again pulled off a very important save following a shot from Zubkov from 18 meters.
Vidi went ahead for the second time on the night after 40 minutes. Hangya sending in a corner for Stopira to meet with his head and put the ball into the back of the FTC net 1-2. There was still time in the first half for Kovacs to again save well from Boli and then Mmaee as the teams went in at the break with Vidi leading 2-1.
It was Uzuni who shot at goal from 27 meters at the beginning of the second half following a free kick, but Kovacs was equal to it. Ferencvaros had more of the possession without creating serious chances. Our defence and goalkeeper remaining alert and tight to keep out any threat.
Nego went on a solo run after 70 minutes, which ended with Funsho shooting, but it was blocked. Moments later and Hangya fed Zivzivadze with a fine ball, but our forward could not make clean contact with the ball.
FTC pushed forward in the remaining minutes in search of the leveller. However, we defended bravely and in the end picked up a deserved 2-1 win at the home of Ferencvaros. The win sees Vidi into the next round where we will meet Budafok at the MOL Arena Sosto.
