An away draw in the league cup quarter final, first leg

Pecs took the lead through Milan Perics, but Nemanja Nikolics equalized for Videoton.

A few weeks ago, Pecs and Videoton played out a 1-1 draw in the league. Today's league cup tie saw both sides field very different teams. Vidi II team captain Zsolt Tar and Lupeta both started for Videoton. The home side included Milan Perics, who is currently on loan from Vidi.

Pecs started the game better, and both James and Racz had chances in the first couple of minutes. The visitors then began to see more of the ball and took control of the game. Lupeta tried his luck from the edge of the box, while Alvarez' shot was bravely saved by the Pecs keeper. Racz found himself with a good chance on 27 minutes, and his powerful shot from close range flew over the bar. Pecs player Varosi then went down inside the box next to Vinicius, and the referee pointed at the spot.

Perics stood behind the ball and Tujvel produced a good save to keep the score at 0-0. Perics went one better 5 minutes later, following a solo move, which ended with the ball in the back of the net (1-0). Helesfay also produced a good save to deny Alvarez in the last minute of the first half. 

The start of the second half resulted in James' header home being short, which was met by the alert Nildo, who was denied by the keeper, after he came out of his goal well. Nikolics found himself on the floor after 51 minutes, inside the Pecs penalty area, but the match official waved play on. Pecs had chances in the minutes that followed. Racz shot from close range, and it was intercepted by Tar, with the ball running out for a corner. Perics then saw his effort go just wide of the post after a cross from James.

The 61st minute saw good link up play between Alvarez and Nikolics, which ended with Niko hitting his shot across the face of the goal and into the back of the net. (1-1). There were goal scoring chances for both sides in the final minutes of this first leg tie. The final whistle went with the match producing a 1-1 draw.

The return leg will be played at the Sostoi stadium in two weeks time. The players and coaching staff expressed their appreciation for the Vidi supporters who followed their side to Pecs, and backed their team sportingly.
