Videoton closed the gap on the top three following a good 2-0 away win at Kaposvar on Sunday
Videoton continued were they had left off against Debrecen last Sunday, with another important three points at the home of Kaposvar on Sunday. The game looked a challenge for Paulo Sousa's side, taking into consideration the recent good form of the home side, coupled with the fact that the pitch was not the best to play good passing football on. There were changes to the starting line up as Hector came back in at left back. The corresponding match last season was played in terrible conditions on a near waterlogged pitch, so Vidi knew that they would have their work cut out going into this game.
The game began with a good chance for the visitors. Nikolics fed Mitrovics with a lovely ball after good work by Oliveira, which ended with Mitrovics placing his shot just wide of the post. Walter then went close to putting the Fehervar side ahead on 25 minutes. However, referee Bognar ruled the effort offside, even though the player was clearly onside. Kaposvar had their first real chance of the game, three minutes later, when Horvath tried to find the back of the net, which he did a week before against Diosgyőr, but his shot failed to test Bozsovics. There were plenty of battles going on around the pitch, with the referee dishing out several yellow cards during the first half. The game also kept coming to a halt with players going down in need of treatment.
There were no changes at half time by either manager, although the shape of the game changed dramatically. That was mainly thanks to a big mistake in the Kaposvar defence, which allowed Nikolics to go through on goal, with his shot being parried by keeper Hajduch, but the rebound fell kindly to the striker, who made no mistake as he rolled the ball into the back of the net. That goal arrived early on with just three minutes played of the second period. There was a moments scare in the 51st minute when Benjamin went down in the box, following a dual with Brachi, but the match official produced a yellow card to the Kaposvar player, for diving in the box. Kaposvar came close to equalising in the 62nd minute, when Haruna blasted his effort just wide of Bozsovics' goal from 25 meters out.
Benjamin then cut the ball back a few minutes later for the arriving Horvath, who shot over the bar for Kaposvar. The game was settled in the 78th minute with a lovely ball from Mitrovics releasing Niko, to calmly slip the ball wide of the keeper and into the back of the Kaposvar net. The goal secured Videoton all three points as they closed the gap on the top three. Although MTK won on Friday evening, Debrecen surprisingly slipped up at home to Paks on Saturday, with top of the table Győr still to play on Sunday evening.
Videoton deserved this win on the whole, and the most important aspect of the game were the three points that the red and blues took back with them to Szekesfehervar. Vidi were also the first side to win on Kaposvar's home pitch, making the result all the more better.
