The first half produced few chances; in the 27th minute, the home goalkeeper saved Németh’s deflected shot, whilst in the 28th, at the other end, Könyves shot over the bar. In the 35th minute, following a cross from the left, Halácsi’s header deflected off one of our defenders for a corner; then, in the 36th minute, following a cross from the left by Zsótér, Derekas’s header found the net after the home goalkeeper failed to hold onto the ball and it trickled into the net, but the assistant referee flagged for offside. In the 42nd minute, Derekas tried to break through on goal whilst under pressure from the defenders, but ultimately shot over the bar.

Following the first half, which ended 0–0, we made a substitution at half-time, with Hesz coming on for Derekas.

In the 52nd minute, Bedi shot over from 30 metres; in the 63rd, Hársfalvi saved a header from a home player. In the 72nd minute, we took the lead: following a scramble in front of goal, the ball fell to Németh and he struck it past the keeper into the bottom-right corner (0–1)! Unfortunately, our lead didn’t last long; in the 76th minute, at the end of an attack down the left, Egri levelled to score against us (1–1).

In the closing stages, our side had the better chances, yet it was the home team who came out on top in the end. In the 86th minute, substitute Erik Kovács headed the ball on nicely to Németh, who shot just wide of the top left-hand corner from 18 metres. In the 89th minute, another huge chance went begging, Erik Kovács lifted the ball back from the byline towards the goal, where Németh was waiting, but a defender managed to clear it off the line with the goal gaping. In the second minute of the three-minute stoppage time, Balázs brought down an opponent inside the box, and referee Katona awarded a penalty. Hársfalvi dived the right way but Könyves’s shot went over him, so Karcag won the match (2–1).

Our team’s next match is against DVTK on Monday 7 September.
