Vidi's new stadium will be ready by the second half of 2016

Mayor András Cser-Palkovics and Managing Director Attila Balogh both gave their views on the stadium recontruction plans.

"The Government passed a final decision in November 2013 to reconstruct the Sostoi Stadium with 9 billion HUF state backing. The stadium expansion will be paid for by the Székesfehérvár local council, with the responsibility for this project going to BMSK Zrt, while Videoton FC will be the professional partner in this program. We have been holding weekly meetings for several weeks since the decision was made, in cooperation with the stakeholders at the Town hall - said Székesfehérvár mayor András Cser-Palkovics to vidi.hu. He also gave further details about the new stadium.

"We will keep the main building, and demolish the earth banks to make it a four-sided covered, 14,000 seater capacity modern stadium. We are close to finalizing the design, and this could be signed by the end of June. An important aspect in the planning point of view, is that we have not only put thoughts into the stadium itself, but also the planners need to find a solution for approaching the stadium and the parking requirements" - added the mayor.

The present situation is that Videoton will play their autumn matches at the Sostoi stadium, with Managing Director Attila Balogh giving further details about the stadium:

"It will be a UEFA category 4 stadium that will be built, providing the best possible service to the supporters, while also being environmentally friendly complex using renewable energy. The stands will not only be covered, but closer to the pitch, in order to provide the most intensive experience in matches. As the stadium reaches the planning stage, I would like the supporters to see plans of how it will look, and to also listen to their opinions. This will happen by the end of the summer. Latest by January, but perhaps by the end of the year, we will have the implementation plans, followed by the selection of the contractor through public procurement, with building work expected to begin next spring. The first phase of the demolition will start in the beginning of 2015, so we will play our matches in Felcsut, at the Pancho Arena. Although we are at the start of the project, I hope that we can begin the autumn 2016 season at our new home" - said Attila Balogh.
