Videoton FC kept all three points at the Sostoi stadium after they scored three second half goals. The only major change to the home defence was at right back, with Szolnoki replacing the injured Brachi. Otherwise it was a regular looking back line for Paulo Sousa's side. Gyurcso began the game on the right hand side of midfield, with a recall for Gosztonyi, who played out on the left. Mitrovic and Sandor held the midfield together in the centre, with the young Kovacs just ahead of them. In form striker Nikolics made sure that the Vasas defence would not have an easy afternoon by starting up front for the boys in red and blue.
There was a lower than usual crowd inside the Sostoi stadium, perhaps due to the early Sunday afternoon kick off, with the game also being covered live on national TV. Those supporters who did turn up saw an eventful opening few minutes. Vasas were under new management, with Marijan Vlak returning to the managerial bench, having taken over from Florian Urban during the week. Vasas gave Vidi an early shock by taking a 6th minute lead. Dajics ran alone on goal, with his shot being parried by Bozovics, and the rebound fell kindly to Ferko, who rolled the ball in the empty net.
