Toth: We are preparing for the spring season in perfect surroundings

We spoke to our experienced midfielder about the winter break and the season ahead.

- This was the first Christmas that you could celebrate together with your daughter. How did the winter break go?

The festive period was relaxing and we spent most of it at home. We visited my wife's family and my own, but were at home for the rest of the period. This was our first Christmas together with our daughter and she liked the Christmas tree the most. She has only just learned to wonder around, and she attacked the tree several times, which is why we took the Christmas tree down a few days later. The few weeks break was very good, especially as I could spend it together with my family. I feel that I managed to recharge myself.

- The last few matches of the autumn season did not go according to plan. What is your first impression about the mood of the squad, and the way they have started the winter pre-season?

Every team suffers a loss of form during a league season. We found this to be the case during November-December, so the break came at the best time for us. It was important for everyone to rest themselves both physically and mentally. We have a very difficult half year ahead of us. We are back in familiar surroundings for the training camp. The facilities are perfect and we can have no complaints. All we have to do is focus on the football.

 - The first week at the training camp is rather monotonous, with two training sessions a day in the program. Are you looking forward to Sunday's friendly match?

Yes, we are all really looking ahead to our friendly match with HNK Rijeka. It is an important part of our current preparations, as we all need to get back in to the tempo of things. One thing for sure is that all of us look forward the most to playing matches.

- What do you expect from the spring season?

A similar spring to that of recent years. The last two-three years have all gone very well for us as we managed to produce strong performances. We were virtually unbeaten in the remaining matches following the winter break. What is the reason for this? I feel that winter pre-season's have gone very well for us and that puts us into perfect form by March. I am looking forward to us making up the difference with Debrecen, and that we can overtake them by the season end, which would mean we would win the league!
