Saturday's league match against DVSC will decide whether the team retains its NB I status

We have already beaten DVSC twice this season, and they are currently tied with us on points in 10th place going into the match.

On Saturday at 17:30 p.m., DVSC, who are fighting to stay in the league just like us, will visit the Sóstói Stadium. This will be the 92nd league match between the two teams in the top division. Of the 91 matches played so far, we have won 38, with 18 draws and 35 wins for Debrecen. The goal difference is 121-118 in DVSC's favour.

In addition with Vidi as the home side, the two teams have played 46 NB1 matches against each other: those have produced 9 away wins and 9 draws, with 28 Vidi victories, meaning we have a huge home advantage.

Of the last 15 league matches between the two teams, which were played at our home ground, we won 11 and drew 2, with DVSC taking all three points on only two occasions, meaning that history suggests a Vidi victory.

What's more, we have already beaten DVSC twice this season, winning 2-0 at home and 2-1 away.

DVSC started the season under head coach Srdjan Blagojevic, but after only four league games, the Serbian coach was dismissed at the end of last summer. At the end of August, Tibor Dombi led the Debrecen team to victory against ZTE FC as interim head coach, and Csaba Máté was then appointed to take charge of the team, but he was dismissed less than two months later, during which time DVSC failed to pick up a single point in five league games. Tibor Dombi returned to the bench as interim head coach, and Debrecen drew 2-2 against FTC and ETO. At the end of November, the new Debrecen head coach, Nestor El Maestro, made his debut, leading the team to a 5-4 home win against FTC, 3-1 against Nyíregyháza, and 2-0 away against MTK. Most recently, a few weeks ago, they won 4-3 against ZTE, despite trailing 3-2 in the 87th minute at the Nagyerdei Stadium.

After 32 rounds, DVSC is in 10th place in the table with 8 wins, 7 draws and 17 defeats, with a goal difference of 49-59, ahead of us only on goal difference. This also means that our team will only retain its place in NB I if we keep all three points at home. If DVSC collect a point or points against us, then Debrecen will remain in NB I.

DVSC's most successful player is Donát Bárány with 13 goals.
