Thanks to the pitch groundsmen, there was no sign of yesterday's snowfall and the ball was kicked off on a good quality pitch. The teams started cautiously, with Újpest having more possession and the goals not being threatened. In the 11th minute, Mátyás Tajti's downward free-kick was palmed away for a corner by debutant Gergely Nagy. At the other end, Zsolt Kalmár's 30-metre free-kick was just wide.

In the 23rd minute Fran Brodic's header was easily saved by our goalkeeper, then after a clearance Mátyás Katona broke forward, his 17-metre shot was pushed to the side by Riccardo Piscitelli. In the 35th minute, we could record two more chances for Fehérvár: first, a cross from Milan Pető was inches wide of the goal, then Kalmár's cross was just missed by Nejc Gradisar.

In the second half, both teams could have taken the lead. Simut Mario released by Pető, Piscitelli got the ball for the second time. For Újpest, Márk Mucsányi curled a dangerous effort and Brodic's shot was blocked by Serafimov.

Neither head coach made a substitution at the break. Gradisar was difficult to hold, and Katona could have been in position, but Vincent Onovo saved with a tackle. In the 63rd minute, Ivan Milicevic's cross was headed back into the middle by Gradisar and Pető saw his header brilliantly saved by Piscitelli. Újpest took an immediate lead: the ball bounced back and forth inside our penalty area and was eventually curled into the net by Tajti (0-1).

The head coaches made substitutions. In the 79th minute Gradisar was upended on the edge of the penalty area. Kalmar took the free kick and the defenders cleared the ball. In the final moments, Nicolas Stefanelli's cross was inaccurate and then Brodic missed a screaming chance. In the 90th minute, Patrik Kovács was in position, Piscitelli showed another good save. The visitors' goalkeeper also saved Gradisar's close range effort at the end.

The game finally came to an end and Újpest won the match.
