Bohdan Melnyik was born on 4 January 1997 in Volodymyr, Ukraine. He started playing football in his hometown and at the age of 17 he joined FK Vorskla Poltava, where he progressed through the U19 and second teams to the first team in the top flight. There he made his debut in the Ukrainian first division before moving to Kisvárda in 2017. He spent seven and a half years with the club, during which time he appeared in 166 NB I matches (a club record for Kisvárda), scoring ten goals and providing eight assists.
