Vitor Gomes made the move to Videoton permanent during the summer following a loan spell.
Many people feel that the match against Papa, and the game a week before that with Kecskemet, will determine the fate of the league season, as it is games such as these that you have to roll up your socks and battle, and can count for a lot at the end of the season. You played in the match at Papa, so how did you see that game?
Firstly, it is not the most important who plays, but that we pick up the 3 points, which we achieved at both Papa and before that against Kecskemet. It is always hard to play against teams like these who spend the entire game sitting back to defend, which was the situation in our game with Kecskemet.
What are you expecting from Sunday's home match with Ujpest?
Ujpest have players who can make our job difficult, but we will be playing at home, which is an advantage. Despite how tough Ujpest can make it for us, the aim is to keep the 3 points at home.
You arrived in Szekesfehervar in February, so you have a feeling of the town since, and of Hungary as well. How do you feel here with us?
Yes, I spent almost four months in Szeksefehervar, before I returned to Portugal in the summer break. I then returned to Hungary and moved to Budapest, with the simple reason being, was that I put the interests of my family first when I made the decision. There is no difference at all with the fact that I feel really good in both places. I can honestly say that I have grown to really like this country over the recent period, as well as the people. Although my home is in Portugal, I can comfortably say that I feel at home here in Hungary, and I have only positive feelings over the last half year.
This suggests that we will be seeing you for a long time in the red and blue of Videoton?
The half season loan period was followed by me signing a 2+1 year contract in the summer, so I feel that this shows, that I consider my future as long term with Videoton FC, but at the same time, you never know what the future brings.
How do you see Vidi, compared to the sides you have played for, or even compared to the top sides in Portugal?
Videoton FC has the same standards and level in Hungarian football, as Porto or Benfica have in Portugal. Naturally there are differences when it comes to finance, with Videoton budgeting at a different level to the mentioned big clubs. However, there is professional working atmosphere here, and the fanatical supporters help to make it a similar situation. Szekesfehervar has everything to provide the players with the chance to only concentrate on playing football. This is the most important thing, as players can produce their maximum as a result.
The unfortunate Europa League game in the summer - which you played the whole match in - has since seen the team going upwards. What do you feel from the inside is the reason for this?
We looked over the Europa League games, and worked through that and closed it behind us. It was a massive disappointment to go out of the cup as we did, but we have all learned a very important lesson, sadly to our own cost. We need to behave with the biggest humility when we play against any opponent, and we cannot think for a moment that we can win without that. I feel that the players have put this in to their heads, and the results of our pre-season have been seen by our supporters over the autumn games so far.
