Vidi face Serbians Partizan on Thursday in the 1st leg

We take a closer look at the performance this season of Thursday's opponents.

As every Videoton supporter will already know, the team are in Europa League action on Thursday when they play in Belgrade against FK Partizan. The 27 time league champions will provide Vidi with stiff opposition .

League Performance

The Belgrade side are currently in fourth place in the Serbian Super League with five league games already being played. They have won four of those five, but rivals Crvan Zvezda have a 100% record sitting in top place at the moment. The black and whites have been a major side in their domestic league and you have to go back to 1989-90 for the last time they failed to finish in a top three position.

Partizan have a goal difference of 11-5 with Cameroon forward Tawamba and Serbian Djurdjevics both having scored three goals so far. However, Serbian media reported that the latter picked up a slight injury, which has made him doubtful for Thursday's game. Another player fighting to be fit is former Ujpest player Neboja Koszovic.

European Performance

Partizan entered European competition at a later stage than Vidi. They have already played four games in the Champions League. Our opponents defeated Buducsnost of Montenegro in the Q2 stage. Next up were Greek giants Olimpiakos, but they were knocked out over two legs and entered the Europa League as a result.

Leonardo played in the game against Olimpiakos, but he has since left the club having played his final game in the match against the Greek side. Partizan picked up a 2-0 home win and the second leg was a scoreless draw, which meant the Belgrade side progressed 2-0 on aggregate.

The score against Olimpiakos after 10 minutes in the home leg was already 1-1. The goal for Partizan came from Tawamba. However, they then conceded two goals after 56 and 91 minutes to go in to the second leg. Djurdjevic was among the scorers when they twice levelled in the match in Athens, but it was not enough and they were eliminated to the Europa League.
