Match report: All to play for after a 0-0 result in Belgrade

Videoton were in Europa League play off action on Thursday evening. The first leg in Belgrade was played behind closed doors following a decision by UEFA, but there were around 200 travelling Vidi supporters allowed into the stadium to back the men in all white.

The match kicked off with the first action arriving early on with a ball in from Vulicevic, which went over the goal and bounced off the back of the bar and away from danger. With 5 minutes on the clock, Lazovic took a corner, which Stopira could have headed from a good position, but a defender was on hand to clear. Vulicevic sent in a sharp cross, which Juhasz headed away from in front of his goal. Djudjevic then shot from 22 meters minutes later, but his effort went wide of the right post.

The following 20 minutes passed without a chance from either side on goal. Stopira did have a shot from 25 meters out on 32 minutes, but it went the wrong side of the left post. At the same time, Hadzic was forced to come off after suffering an injury. He was replaced by winger Geresi. Vulicevic then went down the right 10 minutes later, and shot powerfully at goal from a tight angle, which needed a very good save from Kovacsik to tip the ball over. Jevtovic also shot at goal on 37 minutes as the action continued inside the empty stadium, but for the singing travelling supporters from Fehervar. Lazovic sent a high ball in close to half time, which Scepovic could have connected with in a promising position, but he chose to control the ball and the move ended with a shot from Geresi. That was the final bit of action from the Serbian forward, who was forced to come off with the same rib problem that he has been experiencing lately. Young Bence Szabo replaced him close to half time.

The second half started with two Partizan free kicks from almost the same place. Jankovic took the first, which went over the bar and Soumah tried his luck with a second, which went closer but again over the bar. Vidi also threatened the home goal after 58 minutes. Lazovic took a corner and Juhasz stormed in to head wide of Stojkovic' goal. Nego also tried to beat the experienced keeper 4 minutes later, but it did not cause him any problems. Geresi went down the left wing after 65 minutes before falling to the floor inside the box, but the Scottish referee waved play on.

Midway through the second half, Durdevic had a header from a cross that ended in the back of the net, but the referee ruled for a foul of Fiola and it was not given. Henty was another player forced to come off on 75 minutes after pulling up. He was replaced by Mirko Maric for the remainder of the game. Vidi could have won the game right at the end. A cross from the right was met by Patkai, who shot right at keeper Stojkovic, who produced a very good save.

The scoreline remained 0-0 and the two sides will meet again on the 24th August at the Pancho Arena.
