League Cup: Eighty matches in seven years for Vidi

Vidi have made the final of the league cup four times since 2007 winning three of those.

Videoton are in league cup action on Wednesday with a home game against Kaposvar. It will be the first competitive match of 2014 for José Gomes' men. The league cup was introduced in 2007, with Vidi playing in 81 matches within that competition since then. That record has seen 44 wins, 21 draws and just 15 defeats.

Videoton have won the cup three times in 2008, 2009 and last in 2012. The red and blues made it to the cup final last season, but could not beat Ferencvaros in the final. Videoton are the most successful team in this competition, with Ferencvaros, Paks and Debrecen all managing to win the cup once.

The Fehervar side were drawn in Group E this season, picking up 3 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats with a goal difference of 15-9. They made it through the group stage finishing in second spot behind Paks. That now sees Vidi among the last 16 with a two legged affair against Kaposvar coming up. A total of 13 first division sides remain with 3 more from the second division.

There were 4 matches in the league cup on Saturday 22nd February, with three ending in a draw. Haladas - FTC 0-0, SZTK - Szolnok 0-0, Pecs - Paks 1-1, while Papa won comprehensively at the home of Kecskemet, thanks to a 5-1 scoreline. Vidi will be looking to pick up another win in the league cup on Wednesday and take a big step on the road towards picking up the trophy.
