Manager Joan Carrillo shared his thoughts on the first league game of the spring season.
The Hungarian players had to return from their winter break earlier than usual with the first OTP league match taking place on the 25th January. The squad spent two weeks out in Spain preparing for the spring season and our league game with Budapest Honved this evening.
“Naturally it would have been better to have had more time preparing and fixing the errors but each team had exactly the same amount of time. I am pleased to be working here at the club. I wouldn’t even think of finding excuses. We had two weeks to find the suitable solutions. I feel that we worked well out in Spain and the team tired towards the end. We worked hard on our fitness as well as working on tactics each day. The lads showed good mentality and we also tried out several formations during games. We were also up against strong opponents. Results at this time are not the most important, but to experience playing against good sides. This helps us to concentrate fully from the first minute until the last and with the right dedication."
The Kispest side were also abroad spending their pre-season in Turkey.
“Honved have good and experienced players. They can play that system that they have been using over recent seasons. They have not really made too many changes to this system over the winter break. They will be working hard on the counter attack and using the pace down the wings. They will also have their defensive line at the back and we will need to break through this. We will need to create many chances and score goals to get the three points.” - commented manager Joan Carrillo ahead of Saturday's game with Budapest Honved.
