Istvan Kovacs suffers collarbone break

The young midfielder injured himself in Hungary's 4-1 win over Bosnia on Thursday.

Hungary's U21 side beat their Bosnian counterparts on Thursday with a 4-1 scoreline. However, there was bad news for both Videoton and Istvan Kovacs, who suffered a serious injury.

"Kovacs was taken straight to the Kecskemet hospital, where the results showed a broken left collarbone. We took our player to the hospital in Szekesfehervar, where he will be operated on Friday. It looks like he will be out for several weeks" - said Vidi club doctor Tibor Kovacs.

"I am very sad that I have suffered such a serious injury, which will mean that I have to miss a lengthy time out. I knew straight away after I fell that I was in real trouble and the pain was serious. I had an x-ray at the Kecskemet hospital, and thankfully the pain went away. I am delighted that we could win the match. I can honestly say that I was worried when we were 0-1 down. I could feel that we were the better side, even if the Bosnian's were not always fair in the way they played. However, we showed them in the end by the amount of goals we scored, that we are a better team. There are two very tough games in October against Austria and Spain, and confidence is high after getting six points from the first two matches. The hard games are ahead of us though! I cannot say whether I will be back by then or not, but I hope that the operation goes well and that the rehabilitation is quick" - said Istvan Kovacs to vidi.hu.

The club wishes Istvan a speedy recovery!
