Five interesting things to know before the match against Mezőkövesd

We are undefeated at home against Kövesd in the NB I, our biggest success was a 4-0 win.

In the 30th round of the OTP Bank Liga on Sunday at 19:30 our team will host Mezőkövesd Zsóry FC at the MOL Arena Sósto.

1. Overall record

The two teams have played 22 matches in their history, twelve of which we have won, six have been drawn and four have been won by the Borsod side. The first match between the two teams in the NB I took place in November 2013 in Székesfehérvár, which we won 1-0 with a goal from László Kleinheisler. Our last league match was played away from home in February this year, where an extra-time penalty gave the home side a 2-1 win.

2. Top scorers of this fixture

The top scorers in the Vidi-Kövesd and Kövesd-Vidi matches are Kenan Kodro and Danko Lazovics, both scoring four times. Marko Scepovic scored three times, while Márkó Futács, Ezekiel Henty and Armin Hodzic scored two against Mezőkövesd.

3. Biggest win

Our biggest goal-scoring success against Mezőkövesd was on 4th November 2017: two goals from Danko Lazovics and one each from Ezekiel Henty and Marko Scepovic at the Pancho Arena in Felcsút, Hungary, gave us a 4-0 win over them. Attila Fiola, Loic Nego and Stopira are also part of the current squad, but the former will not play on Sunday due to injury.

4. Unbeaten at home against Kövesd

Our team is preparing for its eleventh home league match against the yellow and blues, and in the previous ten matches we have won or drawn without exception: we have eight wins and two draws. In six of the ten matches, we have conceded no goals, and in the remaining four matches, they have scored only once. Only once, however, did our side fail to score, in the 0-0 draw in 2021. The goal difference in the home matches of this fixture is 17:4 in our favour.

5. The date - 7th May.

In the 2000s, the date of 7th May has not brought us any success, in 2010 we lost 3-2 at home to DVSC (goals scored by Ákos Elek and Zoltán Lipták), and in 2005 we lost 2-1 in Kaposvár (Zoltán Schwarz scored). In 1997, we won 3-2 at home against DVSC (Attila Korsós scored twice and Ferenc Róth scored once), in 1994 we lost 1-0 in Pécs and in 1988 we played a goalless draw with Vác at home. In 1980, we played out a 1-1 in Diósgyőr (with a goal from Győző Burcsa), while in 1977, we played 0-0 in Dunaújváros.

Our former head coach, József Albert, was born on the same day as this year's Mother's Day match, as well as former players Dusan Vasiljevic, Milan Purovic and Evandro Brandão.
