Draw against Mezőkövesd

We took the lead through Dárdai's goal, but Vajda equalised. Unfortunately, Kodro missed a penalty in injury time.

In the last match of the 30th round of the OTP Bank Liga our team hosted Mezőkövesd Zsóry FC on Sunday evening at the MOL Arena Sósto. This time head coach Bartosz Grzelak named the starting eleven of Kovács D. - Nego, Csongvai, Stopira, Heister - Pokorny, Makarenko - Katona, Kodro, Christensen - Dárdai. The ceremonial kick-off of the match was made by Zsombor Kiss, who was given the chance by his parents for his 9th birthday.

The goals were not really threatening at the start of the game, with only Heister and Brtan getting a yellow card each in the early minutes. In the 25th minute, however, Dárdai gave us the lead! At the end of a well-executed attack, our striker took a shot from about 21 metres out, the ball was heading towards the middle, but the Italian goalkeeper Piscitelli let it slip through him and into the net (1-0)!

Ten minutes later, Katona tried a similar situation, the visiting keeper again had the ball bounced out of his reach, but this time he managed to save the situation. In the rest of the half, the visitors struck the post, but the it would not have been valid, as the visitors' striker was offside, and we led by one goal after the first half.

At the break, Attila Kuttor, the guests' head coach, made a second change for forced reasons, having to replace Cseri in the first half and Dominik Nagy later on. Gábor Molnár and Sándor Vajda were the two arrivals. László Jakab and Lászlóné Erzsike Jakab kicked off the first half on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. Even a training session rarely starts without Uncle Laci, let alone a match, and it is no coincidence that all our players on the pitch personally congratulated the anniversary.

The celebratory mood did not last long, at the end of an attack Molnár's shot was bravely saved by Dániel Kovács, but Vajda, who came on at the break, slotted the rebound into the empty goal (1-1). After that Piscitelli twice corrected his mistake, first Makarenko's powerful shot and then Stopira's header were bravely saved. In the 66th minute, Houri and Kastrati replaced Christensen and Katona, then Dárdai's header and Karnitski's shot were threatening the goals, but the former went wide and Kovács saved.

In the 82nd minute, a striker replaced the midfielder in a Vidi shirt: Levente Szabó came on for Makarenko. Two minutes later, after a corner, Drazic headed the ball down to Brtan, who had a shot at goal from close range, but Kovács saved. A minute later, Pokorny's powerful 20-metre shot flew over the goal. In the 88th minute, Houri was brought down inside the penalty area and Farkas, to everyone's surprise, gave a yellow card to our midfielder for foul play, but the VAR called the referee, who after reviewing the incident, changed his decision and awarded a penalty to our team. Naturally, Houri's yellow card was cancelled. Unfortunately, Kodro slotted the penalty over the goal. In the third minute of the seven-minute extra time, Pokorny was in a shooting position, but he also shot over the goal from 13 metres. In the dying moments Levente Szabó jumped highest but headed the ball wide of the goal, and Ádám Farkas ended the game in the 98th minute, with the teams picking one point each on Sunday night at the MOL Arena Sóstó.
