We spoke with our home-grown young goalkeeper, Dala Martin, about the decisive match against DVSC to retain our place in NB I.
On Saturday afternoon, the decisive match against DVSC will determine which team remains in the top division. What kind of game do you expect from your opponents?
Debrecen is an aggressive team, we know that they usually press their opponents. They also have quality attackers who we need to watch out for. In our current situation, no matter who we play, I expect a very difficult match, and the same goes for them.
You mentioned the quality attackers at DVSC. It is possible that Brandon Domingues will not be able to play, and Donát Bárány is not completely healthy either. These two players have scored more than half of Debrecen's goals so far, with a total of 25. Could their possible absence be an advantage for us?
Obviously, if one or more key players are missing from the opposition, it's an advantage, but in such a close match, whoever takes the field will be extra motivated. Even if there are absentees on both sides, it won't detract from the prestige of the match. In fact, whoever gets the opportunity will certainly do everything they can for their team's success. I'm expecting a very serious clash.
We were in a similar situation two years ago. How did you experience the last match as a young member of the squad back then, and how are you experiencing it now?
Yes, I do remember two years ago when we were lucky enough to stay up. To be honest, I'm experiencing it completely differently now, because back then, as a young player, I had a different role in the team. Now I can do my bit on the pitch to help us stay up, and I feel much more responsible than I did two years ago. It's difficult to go through a situation like this, but I'm confident that we'll come out of it positively and that next year we'll move forward and have a more peaceful season.
The formula is simple: only victory will allow us to retain our place in NB I. It will help us that we can play the decisive match at home, in our well-known stadium, in front of our own fans. There is a lot of interest in the city, and I am sure that many people will be cheering you on. What message would you like to send to the fans who will be attending the match?
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for standing by us throughout this difficult period. I don't want to use big words, we know that it's a one-match final. All I ask is that whatever the result, you stand by us until the end, just as we will believe in victory until the end. I hope that after the final whistle we can celebrate staying up together, and that next year we can be part of a more successful year.
