Vidi win by two goals in the first leg against Čukarički

Videoton emerged 2-0 winners in the second round, first leg match at the Pancho Arena.

The weather on Thursday evening was good, which created good conditions by the kick off for the Europa League game against last season's third best side in Serbia. FC Čukarički had beaten Ordabasi 6-3 on aggregate in the first qualifying round. Vidi had also seen off Zaria Balti 3-2 on aggregate to book a place in the second round.

There were two players missing through slight knocks from today's squad. Poloskei received a kick to his leg, while Simon was feeling pain to his lower back. The visiting sides defence looked solid in the early exchanges. The first chance arrived on 12 minutes when Geresi received a good ball on the right, and his cross into the centre just failed to connect with Barczi. Patkai released Geresi on 22 minutes, who took the ball beyond the keeper, but Piasentin managed to win the ball in the last moment, while Bodi tried his luck from long range, but the ball went off a defender for a corner.

There were around 10 minutes left of the first half when Nego produced a fine tackle inside his own box. He slid in to deny Mandics from a real scoring opportunity. The action continued in front of a crowd of around 2000, with Geresi finding Barczi, who from a tight angle, shot at goal, but a defender just got in the way and the ball went wide of the right post.

The important breakthrough arrived after 58 minutes. Geresi did really well to keep the ball in play, before crossing into the middle for Bodi to find the back of the net (1-0).

Visiting substitute Jovanovic tricked Vinicius minutes later, but he could not find a team mate and the danger went. Danish referee then showed a second yellow to Nego, which saw Vidi reduced to 10 men as a result.

There was 2 minutes left of normal play when a cross from Suljic was headed at the keeper by Patkai. Patkai then played in Feczesin who slid his effort the wrong side of the far post from 14 meters.

Vidi then doubled their lead in time added on. The 92nd minute goal was thanks to Feczesin showing strength to win the ball, before unselfishly finding Suljic who found the back of the net from close range (2-0).

The return leg will be next week in Belgrade. Vidi are next in action on Sunday when they kick off the new league season at home to DVTK. The match will kick off at 18:00pm.
