Goals from Juhasz, Nikolics and an own goal gave Videoton the three points on Saturday.
The match kicked off in lovely summer weather, as Vidi played their third game of the new league season. It was the biggest match of the weekend at the Sostoi stadium between Vidi and ETO.
Nikolics was fouled after 3 minutes, with the resulting free kick from Gyurcso curling over the bar. Calatayud saved well from Varga after 6 minutes, as he dealt well with a 32 meter Varga free kick. The action continued 4 minutes later as Sandor flicked a Gyurcso cross on to the crossbar. Both teams continued to attack in an open match that the supporters enjoyed. There were promising chances midway through the first period but without any real threat on either goal. Simon experimented with a shot, while Varga had a powerful effort on the Vidi goal. Győr went ahead towards the end of the first half. A cross from the left was headed back by Liptak, for the arriving Patkai to shoot first time from the edge of the box, but Szolnoki blocked his shot. The ball back in was headed out by Sandor, but this time Patkai scored with a low shot in to the far corner of the net. (0-1).
Sandor had the chance to level close to half time, but he shot wide of the post from 8 meters, so it was the visitors that went in at the break with the advantage.
The second half began at a fast tempo, with Lang appearing to handle a long ball forward on 47 minutes, but the match official did not give a penalty. Kleinheisler and Gyurcso had chances that went wide of the target. Then the leveller arrived after 59 minutes: Oliveira found Gyurcso with a good ball, and the winger then raced away with the ball down the left, before crossing low in to the middle for Wolfe to score past his own keeper. (1-1).
The visitors were back in front after 66 minutes, when Kronaveter, who had come on at the break, released Varga on the wing, who squared the ball into the middle, with both the Vidi defenders and Priskin unable to reach the ball, but Rudolf arrived at the far post to score from close range. (1-2).
Vidi almost levelled within a couple of minutes, when Sandor fed Gyurcso with a neat pass, before cutting the ball back and curling a shot over the bar. Gyurcso sent a 73rd minute free kick just over the bar. The equalizing goal came after 75 minutes. Gyurcso, who was playing well, sent a corner in that was met by the head of Juhasz, who made no mistake. It was the international defender's third goal in the league so far this season. (2-2).
Feczesin replaced Simon straight after the goal, which showed that Vidi really wanted to win this big match. It was a pounding match that was full of excitement. The winner came in the 83rd minute after Alvarez did really well to find Nikolics with a good ball, with Niko keeping his cool to slot the ball through the legs of keeper Kocic. It was the 99th goal for Nikolics, and his fourth in a row in the first division. It came at the best time to make the score 3-2.
Vidi continued to press forward after going ahead, but Győr also had a chance. Volgyi shot over from close on 87 minutes. Gyurcso had a good shot close to the end, which was saved by the keeper, while in extra time, Juhasz scored from another header, but the referee did not give it as he saw a foul on the defender.
There were 4 minutes of added time, but Vidi battled their way to the end and picked up a good win. Videoton keep their 100% start to the season with 9 points and a 9-2 goal difference. They currently sit in second place in the first division table, behind Paks who have a slightly better goal difference. This was also the 10th consecutive league match that Vidi did not lose.
Videoton are in Hungarian cup action on Wednesday with a visit to Testveriseg SE. They also travel to Nyiregyhaza next weekend.
