Vidi won 3-0 away at Szeged on Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday evening, in the 5th round of the MOL Hungarian Cup, the fifth place team of the Merkantil Bank League (NB II) Szeged-Grosics Akadémia hosted Vidi at the Szent Gellért Forum. Manager Imre Szabics, who returned to his hometown, started this time with Kovács D. - Nego, Fiola, Stopira, Heister - Lednev, Makarenko, Alef, Petryak - Kodro, Dárdai. Our opponent's bench was occupied by former veteran Dragan Vukmir, with 299 NB I matches under his belt, who also named our 2015 title winner Adam Simon as captain before the start.
Szeged, who started the match bravely, were the first to attack, as Gréczi's 19-metre effort missed Kovács' goal in the fourth minute. In the 12th minute, Lednev fired a left-footed shot from 21 yards, just wide of the post. Two minutes later we took the lead with a great goal! Nego scored from outside the box from about 14 meters into the far top corner (0-1)! No less beautiful was Petryak's goal, who in the 16th minute curled the ball into the top right corner from 15 metres inside the box (0-2)! After the goals, we led several good attacks and Szeged also fought hard, but there was no real threat to either goal, and the teams went into the dressing room with Vidi enjoying a two-goal lead.
None of the head coaches made any changes at the break. In the seventh minute of the second half, Dárdai turned towards goal, his 15-metre shot bounced off a Szeged defender and out for a corner. Lednev's corner kick was headed over the bar by Stopira, who again arrived at the right time. A minute later, Lednev passed to Dárdai, whose centre was deflected into his own net by Kővári, (0-3)! In the 68th minute, Petryak tried to hit the ball low this time, which Takács saved well.
Imre Szabics made use of all five substitutions in the match, with Zulj, Nikolic, Szendrei, Evandro and Rúben Pinto coming on for Lednev, Kodro, Dárdai, Petryak and Alef. In the 85th minute, a shot by Dobos had to be pushed away by Dániel Kovács for a corner. Two minutes later, Pejovics headed from close range, which was no problem for Kovács, and before the end Bitó bombed the ball over the goal from 22 metres. The result didn't change, we won 3-0 in Szeged and are now in the last eight of the MOL Hungarian Cup! According to our information, the draw will take place on Wednesday night, after the Vasas-Ferencváros match on M4 Sport.
